After learning that a dear friend of mine had trouble reading on account of Dyslexia, and thereafter learning of family members experiencing similar troubles, I wondered how they were keeping up with the day-to-day news in such a rapidly changing country. Sure, they could watch the news broadcast later in the day, but what if they wanted to engage as early as possible in the morning when these articles were typically published?

The Guyana Brief is an attempt to make the news accessible not only for those who prefer the audibles of the world, but to those who speak languages other than English. My aim is to bridge the gap between languages and preferences by providing everyday, Guyana's news in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Naturally, we hope to expand our library of languages in the future should our concept prove useful.

Converting daily news articles to these languages is made possible through the ElevenLabs AI system. While it may not be perfect as it lacks the fully recognizable "human-like" traits of a human speaker, it is the first step in our process to making Guyana's news accessible to a broader audience.
